Dr. Nayan Mitra contributes to CSR both as an Academic and as a practitioner. Her pioneering work with Dr. Bhaskar Chatterjee forms the bed-rock for CSR to thrive as an academic discipline in India and abroad. As the first researcher on mandated CSR, her books brought India to the world and over the years, helped to trace the development thereof. She has over 60 peer-reviewed international research publications including several books on CSR and is the co-editor of the Springer series on ‘Responsible Leadership and Sustainable Management’. Her company, Sustainable Advancements provides training and advisory to international universities and thinktanks in Europe, Australia and USA among others and conducts baseline, impact assessment studies through partnership with multi- stakeholder groups to create replicable, sustainable projects. Dr. Mitra’s social impact work extends into various leadership roles, that includes serving as the Board Member of United Way of Kolkata; National President of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WICCI) Sustainable Businesses Council – where she continuously strives to bring in innovative programmes to contribute to their impact. She is also a pro-bono board member for NGOs that champion the needs of people living with special needs. She has received multiple awards for her contribution.
